The point is that Milton Friedman could explain economics to someone who had no idea about it going into the lecture. The understanding gained from such an event however is fleeting unless the person enhances their newfound learned knowledge.

I had a friend in college who was a microbiology postgrad. He could explain his research to me even though I was a business major. That does not mean I understand microbiology now. I did not take the time or exert the effort to become educated in the field.

Another point is that we need another clear spoken thinker like Friedman today.
