A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.


The right of the people to keep and bear arms, as a well regulated militia necessary for the security of a free state... If it doesn't require a well regulated militia, the amendment should only read: "the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."
