LOL! Yes, Enid Bloch is really qualified (and objective!), isn’t she??

On Socrates and the Greeks:

“…here was an argumentative, annoying, ugly little man” “As long as I could remember I had yearned for a baby, and now Plato, through the voice of Socrates, intended to rob me of my future child? And beyond that, to censor my every thought and action in a totally controlled society?”

Enid Bloch

“I slowly realized that Socrates had started out life as a badly abused child”

Enid Bloch

And she goes on and on with her psychiatric analysis, in spite that she has no qualifications in either Greek history or psychiatry!

If as a child he had taken money for his services, even if forced to do so by his father, and then in adulthood had dared to cast a vote in the assembly, knowing he had been turned into a woman, he could lose not only his citizenship but his very life.”

Enid Bloch

Here this moron accidentally makes my point and disproves your feckless attacks! Any acceptance of “payment” for the love and guidance of the erestes would condemn the boy and his family to contempt and persecution for life!! So much for your bribery crap! Do yourself a favour; when you wish to explore any subject in the future...go to experts in the field! -g- Stay clear of “psycho-historians” and introspective sickos using self-help Freudian analysis to understand their emotional disorders!

“I do not think I ever could have recognized what Socrates was doing had I not experienced similar childhood miseries and found similar ways out. Fortunately I was not used for sex as a child, nor was I beaten, but some of the assaults on my emotions and my body were not so very different, and I too fled to a shimmering world of transcendent ideas”…”From that time forward I felt personally responsible, not just for my own actions, but for the very fate of the earth. I really thought it was up to me, a little kid, to save the world, and I had to do it by figuring out how societies and governments and the human psyche work. (LOL!!) By the sixth or seventh grade I had begun reading the New York Times every day and imagining myself President. It’s been quite a burden, I can tell you…”

Enid Bloch

(yes, I can imagine it has! For you and little Gweggy, both)!

And here she diagnoses herself…(AND YOU)! Accurately but apparently fails to derive the necessary conclusions or help from her lay person’s unqualified diagnosis!!

“But I also have spent much of my life struggling against these very same tendencies. That’s probably why I so detested Socrates when I first met him. We are always most angry at those people who openly display the very behaviour or desires we secretly are trying to suppress in ourselves. I hated Socrates’ need for aggressive argument, no doubt because I disdained the same need in myself.”

Enid Bloch

“Boys in Athens seem to have been quite vulnerable to sexual attack. Laws were passed to try to protect them”

Enid Bloch

LOL! All societies have laws to protect kids from sexual attack. Why should the society most concerned with examining morality and addressing what is good and best be different than ours in their concern for children? DUH!

To book photography sessions with Enid Bloch or explore the spirituality or sexuality of ancient Greeks you may go through her web site. She can tell you all about it! 30 years of professional photography has apparently helped her work out many of her childhood issues!

Have you thought of taking up photography, Gweggy?! It might help you to draw back from 24 hours a day obsessing over who had sex with whom in ancient Greece! ;-)

Scholars agree that pederasty was not only universally moral across Greece but was also the moral concern of the wisest of the politicians, philosophers, poets, dramatists, etc. People such as Socrates, Aristotle, Plato, Solon--and any other men entrusted with the safety and moral structure of their society and the rights and happiness of the citizenry.

As to the rape of Ganymede that you fawned over recently! I am surprised to find you believe those gods were real! But then you are a gullible fellow. Funny that the only rape you can come up with in 1000 years of pederastic culture where every young boy had a sexual relationship is one “rape” by a mythical being! But that is only because you are unread.

There is something very interesting, however, in the fact that over 50 young men are featured loving the gods and that every god except Mars mentored one or several adolescents in some erotic way! What this confirms for us is that not only was pederasty morally approved of by the gods--but verily that they led the moral teachings by example!!

So it was clearly not just moral (as in "permitted")--but moral as in "idealised"--and pretty much demanded of a good citizen!

This is just a little history lesson for you. But it does not seem possible for you to be rational. You really seem to be obsessed with whether or not the Father of Democracy, the leader of the Seven Wisest Sages across the ages, and the man dead for 2500 years (whose name I picked as a respected association)...ever followed his culture and acted as both Erestes and Eromenos in that society!

Greggy boy...I just don't know! But consider it this way! If he did not follow the culture he would have been considered very abnormal. So the fact that he is so lauded, loved, and honored argues that he did not dishonor his culture. Else how could he have attained such leadership?? Try to figure it out young lad!

And please try to figure out why the sexual mores he was born into and followed is more important to you than the fact that he is considered one of the greatest men of all time?? He lived 2500 years ago, Sport! You have MILLIONS of thinkers and books to build on in 2012. But you can do nothing that will last. Because you ARE nothing--RIGHT?!! You can show nothing of value...RIGHT??! You are not that bright--RIGHT!!-g-

You are killing time while time kills you. You are a NOBODY! Ahh--huh, Sport? -g-

But he lives 2500 years later and you hate him so much you are wasting electricity and bandwidth arguing against a dead person!!! LOL!!

Hey...Maybe look in a mirror!!! (It might be your Cue!! ;-) )

As the Christian Church ("St. Matthew-in-the-City") in Auckland, New Zealand says,

Nice halo!! -g-
