I do remember however that we were not involved in any 10 year unfunded wars or COIN projects to spread our brand of 21st Century Democracy to 7th Century cultures and totally fractured societies using the US Military and its guns. As a matter of fact...(ah yes, I am now ready for Congress...I have used "as a matter of fact")... I recall that Greenspan said we had to worry about the future of the 30 year Bond because of the Budget Surplus and Bush said it was "vitally important" to give the Surplus back to the people, There seemed at that time just a short few years ago, no worries about these so called "Entitlements". As a matter of fact (my goodness...two times) Bush put another "Entitlement" on the books...yep, unfunded and not only that, without any effort to use the government's purchasing power strength. Obviously, no worries about "future", you know a couple of years, runaway "Entitlement" costs. Couldn't be any, Tom Delay and his crowd pushed that one through. And here we are again...now spending as much on "Defense" as the rest of the world combined, the top two percent living as high off the hog as ever because of tax breaks and saying they must leave their wealth to their families so they also can live high off the hog because they were born to wealth and we have the same cries again... Cutting Defense won't do it, we cannot provide universal health care for our own and the middle class and poor must pay more via "Entitlement" cuts so the wealthy do not pay their fair share or most importantly, heaven forbid, a "DeathTax" on their family inheritance.
