Yea the current "media story" about the deficit is that Republicans are all for fiscal conservatism... yet it was pretty well known that they didn't think deficit's mattered! It's funny how the story gets changed to make them look better and feel better about themselves. There was all sorts of reasons bandied bout... including it would be good do run the debt up then Dem's would have to cut programs.

The funniest part is the wingnutz non-stop use of the "hypocrite" card! LOL

our debt EXPLODED from 1 to 2.5 Trillion.
in eight years.

Yet there is nothing to worry about now that Obama his allowed it to slip up to $16 Trillion in four years, with $32 Trillion in sight by 2016.

Since you claim to be unaware of the role Tip O'Neil had in the huge increase in discretionary spending during his time as Speaker of the House, I will simply point out that every time President Reagan wanted something Tip demanded and received a commensurate increase in wasteful spending. Since I have previously pointed this out, I am being redundant.
