I guess it has gone too far to ever go back. 300 MILLION legal guns in the U.S. (about half the guns on the whole planet). Christ, if I lived down there I would have an arsenal to protect my home. On the plus side, can you imagine (say) N. Korea allowing citizens to pack assault rifles!? So you will play this out for a decade or a century. You will either become the most moral people to ever exist...or you will end like Mad Max. In the meantime, nobody will dare to invade on U.S. soil. The American public is by far the largest army in the world. And even your little kids have been trained on video games and can shoot like the dickens...
