Fuchi,

The $199 computer sounds great! I'd settle for a $199 disk right now however.

The low-end market is going to be a bloody battle fought by a number of highly talented and resourceful teams at several different companies. It is not at all clear who will be left standing two or three years from now.

Only one CPU maker has made any profit the last couple of years, and they have made an awful lot of it!

<off topic> Anyone have a recommendation for a good ISDN MODEM? I have an ADSL line now but the analog line quality is too low for reliable V34 connections (a serious problem since I spend many hours each day doing remote network support via PCAnywhere).

My phone company can supply a dual-channel line that supports any combination of B-channels and voice. They claim that an analog MODEM over an ISDN voice channel will crank at full-speed instead of the "24Kbs if I'm very lucky" that I'm getting now.

I'm trying to configure a set-up with 128K ISDN 'Net access, K56flex 'Net access (to eliminate per-minute charges during casual surfing) and 33.6K/V34 capability for remote PC access. My ISP (the phone company) doesn't support USR x2 protocols. Suggestions anyone?

Craig
