I met an interesting Indian man, that has a great restaurant in Hanoi. He said he emigrated to Calgary a few years back, but after almost 3 years waiting to get his papers that allowed him to work (open a restaurant), he got so frustrated, he moved back to Hanoi....

great food, "Namaste" for anyone that travels to Hanoi..

the advantage of taking in chinese vs ukraine immigrants is that once enough is on-shore, the locals no longer has to fear any chinese communist invasion that the political elite likes to spin every so often

and then there is the food

speaking of which, today is boxing day holiday and a good one to catch up on this admin and that whatever else

yesterday was a busy day for one immigrant to canada who shall at some juncture visit the backstop safe harbor nation state should the civilization state go hiccup

jack was perfectly behaved from start to finish

... more or less

did brunch at some club w/ a bunch of boats berthed all about, many belonging to refugees, and listened to dada discuss global macro perfect tsunami, gold safe harbor, quiet cove, and such ... did not take notes

... and lots of food

then exhaustion nap, before watching w/ dada his all-time favorite movie, starring michael caine in "the italian job" featuring cloud-atm extraction, mini coopers and gold, supposedly usd 4m worth at 1969 pricing, or usd 194m this day - something happened to paper money in the interim

happy boxing day

back to work

cheers, tj

I see the same - but l secretly wonder how many are repeating the experience of the Japanese and Saudis who piled in at the top of the US real estate fiasco of the 80's...
