"Does at home charge the fee per meg......or flat?"

As if it could get any better, @Home does not asess any charges for bandwidth at any time of the day. As a matter of fact, I've been surfing for about the last 2.5 hours with CD quality music playing in another browser. At a d/l feed of approximately 20 kbs, I figure I've sucked up about 180 megs or so (if only there were a way to save it to my hd).

I'm in Fremont, one of the first roll-out areas, and have had @Home for just over a year. Their customer service is excellent, and the difference in speed between @Home and my old Netcom account is similar to comparing a moped to a jet plane.

My friend was a Beta tester in this area before it was available to the public and he has actually used the @Home service availability as part of his local relocation criteria (sick but true).

I think it's dificult to say where the price is going in the short term, as it has tended to be volatile in its short lifespan, but after an unsuccessful attempt to buy into the IPO, I finally picked up a decent position last week under $20. I think it's an excellent medium to long term play.

tlindt, no! athm is hardly likely to tank. the only competitor for them is time warner, and i doubt if they really have any head-on competition. the base for this stock is $18-$19. love to pick some up down there. but wouldn't count on it.

yes, the speed is awesome. usage is unlimited. you get 5 free megs for a personal home-page.

good luck getting some reasonable hookup,

ray

Hey TL, If you use Microhelp's Imonitor before you install software you'll go a long way to be protected, but with MSFT, in general, you got to let them rule your box. Solution? Registry copy or tape backup.Winchell removed IE 3.x. If he did that to install 4.0, that wasn't wise. You have to let 4.0 install over 3.x, and if you'd used Uninstaller, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. MSFT owns the OS, so with their OS level apps, you have to go along with their song and dance. Exchange is particularly insidious. I have worked with client's boxes that suffered as your's had with unpredictable results.
As Khalib or Winchell mentioned if you want us to help, you must detail what you want and how you got to the impasse. Glad to see you in this thread. I think you'll like the investment orientation here.
