The debt limit which has to be approved by the House is the last but very powerful leverage the republicans have left.

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise.
Apparently the Ceiling will be hit in 5 days on Dec 31st.

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said Wednesday that the nation's statutory debt limit will be reached on December 31 and the Treasury Department will take "certain extraordinary measures" to postpone the date.
