I appreciate your ongoing encouragement with this. Actually, I have 2 DVD/VCR players. One of them will record both types, the other only VCR. I've decided to keep both of them and give this a little time. In thinking about what I've done with them so far, I believe I can actually get the older one to work by buying longer cables for the video and audio. The way I want to have it set up needs the longer cables. I went through all my old VCRs the other day and decided there actually are several of them I don't want to lose. I also don't want to go to the expense of converting them to DVD as I would only watch them occasionally. So, the longer term answer is to figure out how to make one of these players work. Not in a hurry with it as I can see the DVDs via my laptop and the HDMI cable I bot yesterday.
