I agree with you that if Boehner succeeds in getting increased taxes with no spending cuts Republicans will most likely lose the majority in the house. The brand will stand for nothing.

If one is willing to assume that fraud was not the only reason Obama was reelected then the major reason he was returned was because Governor Romney did not present a believable conservative image. People saw his RomneyCare and his waffling statements as an indicator he was not serious about dismantling ObamaCare. Absent that value there was not much to inspire support.

Republicans have been duped repeatedly on the bargain of tax increases today for a dishonest promise of spending restraint later. They need to demand immediate spending restraint and promise tax increases later if the spending is cut enough.

Only after democrats have specified what they will cut should Republicans even consider voting on anything.

Given that the Obama and Reid team have more than doubled the debt in four years there is no reason to believe they can't do it again. By 2016 the federal debt could well be $32 trillion dollars. We might need to get used to the idea of American federal debt holding a junk bond status.
