Same story with additional rebuttal information from Game Addict.
Lawyers are licking their lips at the mouthwatering
prospect of a legal feast on the disagreement between Activision and
MicroProse over the rights to the Civilization name. To cut through
the confusion, here is Gameaddict.com's brief take on the cases from
each company.

MicroProse: 'We have bought Hartland Trefoil, the original creator
of the Civilization board game, therefore we own the rights. It doesn't get much simpler.'

Activision: 'Yes, but we own Avalon Hill, which owns certain
distribution rights for the brand. And anyway, if you dispute Avalon's rights, explain how it is that you bought the original rights to Civilization games from Avalon and not from Hartland when you were first interested in the licence?'

Expect more on this one when it reaches court.

Cheers
Bill
