IMHO, Its important to separate voting from ideology People vote based on their ideology, or worldview. The ideology that recently has been more successful with the voters is one which is straying away from the tradition that made the USA a great and successful nation. This makes many people wary and concerned - and perhaps less tolerant and forgiving than in the past. I, for example, find myself getting upset with the (ubiquitous) sports talk. I think "sh*t, man, yours and your children's world is in great danger, and all you can think about is the latest sports event?"
