<<I'm glad that it worked out for you.

As epicure said, though, since socialization is a first step, and without some major motivation to change their socialization ( perhaps including "bribery" and payment), many just can't or won't be educated. Education requires deference to others and respect for ideas that may be alien or take a while to appreciate. It requires delayed gratification. >>

It worked out for most of us, not just me. The other things you bring up are just part of the process. A lot of the kids started the community college primarily for the social life, but also knowing it was a good idea. We all changed.

The very process changed us. We had "mixers" with the girls every week and had so much fun. And we felt so much better about ourselves.

We were going to college! We were all so proud of that.

That community college experience civilized us and allowed us to be enlightened. So they use more guns and hard drugs now. Big deal.

I would bet a dollar to a doughnut that if you go onto any community college today you will see exactly the same story I recounted. You will see many more African Americans (2 to 1 grls!), and other minorites. Which is wonderful.

These folks will be the seed stock to help the others out of the ghettos.

I don't get what you and epicure are even talking about?
