WHY do you have to have that much firepower?

During the Rodney King riots in L.A. some years back, there were carloads of gangsters invading quiet neighborhoods throwing molotov cocktails at homes and businesses and spraying them with their assault weapons. They set the city on fire.

My folks' home was located right in the heart of the worst of it. If it hadn't been for the neighbors who stood out front with their weapons, their homes would have gone up in flames, like so many other neighborhoods did. There were several businesses where people stood out front with their weapons to protect those businesses. There simply weren't enough police to go around to protect the people. They had to attend to the dead bodies of the people who were being slaughtered.

Why do they need that much firepower? Imagine yourself in the face of 4 or 5 carloads of rioters with assault weapons and molotov cocktails who have invaded your neighborhood with the sole intention of creating as much mayhem as they can. Is your little pistol going to protect your family, your home, your neighborhood? Are you going to be wishing you had just a little more firepower? How accurate are you with a pistol? I've been practicing for years but I've never been in a firefight and I'm not sure how effective I'd be with a moving target that was firing an assault weapon at me.

Law-abiding John Q. Public needs every millimeter of protection they can get to keep the scum off them.

It's guys that want to own ARSENALS that scare me.

Some of them scare me too. Like you, that is one reason I am armed.

WHY do you have to have that much firepower?

You should ask the guys at your local police station, DOJ, DEA and DHS that question. Just ask them your question, WHY do you have to have that much firepower?

Then ask DOJ, "WHY do those criminals you provided automatic weapons to, have to have that much firepower?

That our own security forces have armed known murderers with that much firepower has evolved into another reason I am armed. But I had guns long before that.
That is likely a reason you are armed too.

In other words, Thomas Jefferson was right. We need to be armed to protect ourselves against actions of our own government. Jefferson foresaw a time when our security would get aligned with and arm murderous criminals. His foresight is astounding!

I have hunted and fished since I was a kid. I have lifetime hunting and fishing licenses. I fish and hunt for food and share most of it with very poor local war refugees. I have various guns for various kinds of hunting. They serve other purposes including teaching and sport shooting. I've never needed or used them for what you think about doing with your pistol.

I have used also various military weapons, issued to me by the US Army, in front line close combat against America's enemies. I have never shot an American and don't want to.
But, like you, I am prepared to do that to defend my family.

Since you are genuinely concerned about protecting your family, and if you got to know us you, would probably luv to have a few of us your neighborhood. I selected where we live. We have numerous war veteran neighbors around us and feel very safe. If an alarm system goes off around here, armed neighbors respond immediately and long before any police show up.

Like you, I own a pistol (2 actually). And like you, mine are always ready to protect my family. Like you that is my first line of defense. I sincerely hope you and I don't need more. If we ever do need more, i'll be ready and you won't. I wish you luck.
I am also prepared to continue my sport shooting, teaching and hunting.

If the guns larger than your pistol cause concern about your family's security, you may want to get something a bit more powerful and with a longer range, to go with your pistol. Suggest you consider getting some expert training on rifles and shotguns.

I can tell you with absolute certainty, taking away my guns will decrease and never increase your family's security. I can also tell you, that in my mind increasing your personal firepower will give you much enjoyment while increasing your family's security.

If you want a gun issue to fight over. Fight the US Governments distribution of war weapons to known criminals and terrorist groups world-wide.

Stay Safe,
uw

As another answer to those already offered to you, may I suggest that you read the frightening novel One Second After.

If you start it, I suspect you will finish reading it.
