This is strong anecdotal evidence. Reasons why consumers buy the Soundblaster name brand stem from its endurance and quality. There is a $150 difference between some low-end soundcards and the AWE64, and the reason to choose the Creative product is directly related to its name recognition and standard. This should hold true for the DVD product as well. I'd be interested in seeing a rewritable CDR product by Creative that competes against the new Philips one.
