"For him, the lies spread by the teapers 'death panels' etc, were irrelevant."

Despite the explosion in fact-checking, honesty and truth stopped mattering to a frightening proportion of the electorate. At least the swing voters still seem to react to nonsense like Romney's China Jeeps ad with appropriate disgust.

But for the base voters, anything goes.

Ron, interesting story about your friend. I share his concern about the debt - and those of us who see this as a problem are (where) stuck with awful choices. To blame all the Tea Party success on the Koch Brothers though is simplistic and dead wrong in my opinion. Money from these guys didn't help much in the last election did it? From all I've read, the money from these rich groups was pretty much pissed away - and yet the debt still remains and is bigger than ever in any way you want to measure it.
