"From all I've read, the money from these rich groups was pretty much pissed away - and yet the debt still remains"

Yep. It was all spent to avoid paying taxes. Did no good for anybody but ad writers. It would be much better to tax the donors to hell and back and spend the money on infrastructure, or even the debt. i don't mind taxing them to pay it off.

Smoke some weed. The debt won't bother you as much. It's about number 10 on the threats to the country, and will only move higher if we cause a recession trying to end it. So far, Sandy has done a lot nore damage.

I'll be concerned about the debt only if we don't do anything about it. I favor most of what's in the so-called
fiscal cliff measure-- Cut spending and let those ridiculous deficit inducing Bush tax cuts expire.
Unfortunately that's not politically palatable. However, I would favor a more gradual phasing in of the
spending cuts, so as not to set the economy back so much.
I believe the real goal of the folks who created, funded and marketed the Tea Party movement was to
eliminate most of government except of course for our huge defense/military/industrial complex:

Pollution: Industry will self-regulate, get rid of the EPA
Education: We don't need none. Leave it up to local governments
Regulations: Don't need none of those either
Healthcare: Free market. Rich folks get it, others don't

Did I leave anything out?

<<<the debt still remains and is bigger than ever in any way you want to measure it.>>>

True, but so are costs for everything is going higher, and the super rich are getting richer, and using that wealth for their own hedonistic enjoyment (even those that pretend to be generous in donating a fraction of their wealth to worthy causes). All rw'ers kowtow to the super rich and are being played for suckers.

All the rw can see are the slice of the pie that they label as entitlements get bigger. Except, they are at best untruthful and are in denial or they are on purpose trying to deceive to further a delusional Ayn Rand inspired madness. Social Security and Medicare are not entitlements but you have to have some smarts, devoid of delusion, and some knowledge of arithmetic to understand that concept.
