Especially with Bin Laden now dead, I have no idea why we remain in Afghanistan.

It would have been appropriate to get out of Afghanistan, shortly after we routed the Taliban. That only took 90 days.

It is after all their country, and if they want to govern it with 11th century principles we can't make them adopt 21st Century principles. When they grow up, at least an effective majority of them, then we might be able to liberate the oppressed from the oppressors.

our political objectives for the people we have been fighting for are noble. But they don't, and that is critical.
