Look- I think tempers get hot enough here, without allowing people to pile on with the recs. I rarely notice the recs, and almost always forget to use the feature, but if it makes a poster here uncomfortable, that's not a good thing. I've banned a lot of right wingers- and Steve is really not one of them. Goodness knows, I disagree with him on a lot of things, but he is NOT right wing. Heck, I was told my ideas were right wing last week. What's the world coming to? When I lived in Orange county I was called a communist (and had pretty much the same views I have today) and now I find out my ideas are right wing. We don't need recommendations to make us more polarized than we are. There were a LOT of people who were against adding the rec feature- and they were right. I'm sure some of them can speak up, if they want to. It turns out you can't make everyone happy no matter what you do. I made a lot of people unhappy when I turned recs on, and now you're unhappy that it goes off. C'est la Vie.

I think we all know where everyone sits on this board. That is why we are all liberals. We liberals are generally good at reading people and situations. I don't see a dimes worth of difference in any of the posters here. Other than random individual ideas. Like what kind of pie everyone likes-lol Steve (the libertarian) is one of the few, sort of out of the mainstream, but a good sport, so everyone sort of bounces their complaints about anyone, right of left, off him. So I try not to pile on.. And he is a good guy and that is what counts. <<Right Do not provide a way for a half dozen posters who might want to react to having their toes stomped by the token winger to make their opinions known, cause it might hurt his feelings and we wouldn't have our daily updates from Fox news and Limbaugh The fact that the rec system may provide a bit of guidance as to what people might think and be interested in discussing is of no value in light of the potential for bruised egos
