The point is that the policy is supposed to protect middle class Americans as defined by income

Curve the national income and that average is well short of $75k

If that isn't what your policy is intended to do, say so

You sure as hell got your butt elected by people earning a lot less than $75k
So what you're objecting to is that people with incomes between $75k and $250k are being protected, in addition to those below $75k?

Why is that so offensive to you?

That's done already via wages/salary. The same job in San Francisco pays a lot more here than in Detroit.
