I think everyone believes in something, not necessarily a person or a thing but some kind of a symbol, human or otherwise but no one should be forced to do or believe anything he or she does not agree with. Similar to the Middle east, .. we here in the west have been taught that the Bible and Christianity is the way to go. Some say its a peaceful religion and others would dispute that, ... pointing to all the places American troops have laid boots on, but the fact is, ... our missions have been of Mercy to those that are being persecuted, ...till just recently! I dont think IRAQ was a war of sympathy nor was Afpack. Things have changed from Good-Will to, ... well, ... you fill in the blank, ... I dont know!
