Sounds like they've got a big customer that wants out of this thing. I wonder why they didn't just wait a couple days to let things cool down before the upgrade. To issue an upgrade when everyone else is about to downgrade doesn't make much sense. Message from Cymeed on Dec 3 1997 9:16AM EST Roberson and Stevenson Analyst cut 3Com's earing for the next two (!) years and by a substantial amount (check Yahoo), but upgraded the stock ! Can you believe that ? The analyst seem to say, "sorry, I screwed up the earnings estimate, but you, the clients, are right in buying it early and keep buying !" It's got to be the analyst trying to protect their clients or save his embarrasment, together with Barron's.
