For the record, Rick: No one tried to replace a company in his portfolio 10 minutes after the close. I did get requests by PM to replace portfolio picks from both Peter (Biomaven) and RKRW. 1) I didn’t discover that the Japanese stock Biomaven picked on 12/31 wasn’t quoted by Yahoo until the next day (Jan. 1). He asked to replace it with another stock and I agreed to do it, setting the initial price at the 1/2/13 close. However, I noted to Peter that it would be easier for me if he just stuck with his 9 remaining stocks. And he kindly agreed. 2) On 12/31/12, 4:02:38 PM RKRW asked me by PM to replace a stock in his portfolio. Then again, at 4:50:58 PM, he asked me to replace a different stock. I didn’t see his requests until the next day (Jan. 1). RKRW agreed to withdraw the later replacement request and I agreed to the earlier replacement request made less than 3 minutes after the 12/31 4pm deadline. However, I indicated to RKRW that I would set the initial price for the replacement at the 1/2/13 close. (As it turned out, at today’s, 1/3 close, sticking with the first stock would have produced about $900 more of a gain for RKRW’s portfolio.) I was waiting to post the above info until after the final 1/14/13 Contest deadline, as I thought mentioning replacements would encourage others to ask for replacements as well.
