Axial,

Interesting! In my view, the media, pushed/financed by big oil and coal mining unions, have convinced the majority that Nuclear power is inherently dangerous. Yet, every Wind or Solar power unit requires back up by coal fired plants and such plants do not reduce their pollution much when running at a low output levels. Most disturbing is that the legislation, that delayed our going over the so called Fiscal Cliff, contained funds for Wind Power and other related subsidies. It was not just about extending the tax cuts for those making less than $400,000 and a couple of other justified provisions But!!. I learned recently that one of my fellow Bell Labs retirees worked in the Nuclear power plant business for 20 years and he confirmed my understanding that we know how to build safe nuclear plants and that they would produce power at a lower cost than alternatives 24/7.

Getting factual information about the subject is very difficult. I really appreciate the information you have brought to this thread.
