I would have been a little more liberal and allowed first day entrants up until the open on 1/2. Stragglers ok, so long as they don't game it, intentionally or not. Any name with a decent gain or material news would be out. I know some years when I'm out of the top 10 I'm not checking Bulba's weekly updates so it would be easier to lose track and not be up on the new rules. At least if this is the biggest controversy in our lives, we aren't doing so badly :)
