I think it was data like that which led to the hand-wringing reflected in the latest FOMC minutes. Perhaps some of the voting members are beginning to get the message, which was there for all to see if they had looked at Japan. But what is the choice? End it, and watch interest rates rise and have interest payments become an even larger item of the bloated federal budget?

It would have helped if some of them had read the prescient Austrians, especially on credit busts. Oh, no, the Austrians are 'kooks', cranks, etc.
