I note that you are demonstrating no interest in discussing the issue rationally. Fine but I have no interest in anything less. We certainly disagree on whether or not it is complicated. Personally I find it unworthy of political discussion at all. If it is going to be discussed it deserves to be discussed on a rational basis, aside from political affiliations. Political groups complicate the issue in typical hipocritical fashion. Our side picked this position so we all jump on the band wagon, that's where the band and the beer is after all. The left picked more control ... what happened to choice? The right picks less control ... what happened to authoritarianism of the right? I object to any issue being reduced to a simple left/right axis positioning, but even more I object to the never ending disingenousness of the arguments forwarded on this thread for or against anything under the guise of political argument. The only way this can be viewed as a simple yes/no issue is to totally remove the broader aspects and just declare partly loyalty... a huge yawner and not who I am. Is it a personal choice or a matter of national security, is it a matter of liberty or is it social movement in the direction of more modern practicality, are there times or circumstances when it should not be a personal choice (always/never/conditional...why?), does the question truly seek to resolve a problem that needs to be resolved or is it another politicians theater that has no positive conclusion, are there qualifications for each answer (yes/no). It is a complicated issue, I didn't make it that way, what I would like to do is ignore the political theater and discuss it on its own merit. It is also one of the most salient political issues of our times, I didn't make it political... I would prefer to stay out of it all together but when brought in, I insist on discussing it rationally and in depth rather than simply donning pom poms for a side.
