I think Elmat has the right motivation but the wrong examples. One example of cultural adaptation

is the ability to learn languages. In the US, the idea is to kick out anything Spanish and replace it by English. In India most people speak at least two, and usually three languages. English is often a third or fourth.

Once you can handle three languages (different languages, not dialects), the fourth becomes easier. This is adaptation in action.

When you show me an American who can speak three languages, I'll show you a place we need to plant a flag.
