re: arming teachers......if a Columbine situation were to occur in a school where some teachers were armed would they be expected to leave their students and battle it out with the perps? The Columbine teachers first thought was to get their students out of harms way by either hiding them or finding an exit for them to escape.. The Columbine killers were heavily armed with bombs and guns....the lone policeman wouldn't enter the building although he did exchange shots with them as they went in. No one, not even the SWAT teams, entered that building until an hour after the shooting stopped...would you want a pistol packing teacher to take on that job?
