I expect Windows 8 adoption overall on the desktop to track similarly to other major Windows upgrades in the past.

Windows 7, IMO, was basically "Windows Vista for Enterprises", or "Windows Vista Service Pack 2"... i.e., sharp edges of major technology shift blunted and sanded and made more palatable. This despite the media claims that Vista sucked and Windows 7 was divine.

Its a pattern I don't see changing... enterprises are always slower to adopt major updates.

Heck, Lenovo was still selling ThinkPads with an XP option well into Windows 7... because the customers demanded it.

Windows sales are to OEMs. It makes sense that first month was hotter because of inventory build up for holidays. This has nothing to do with sale to consumers.
