Cypress Semi to produce .25 SRAM by mid 1998:

From the December 1, 1997 Issue of Electronic News

Cypress Semiconductor is shrinking its SRAM products, with the introduction of a new 0.35-micron chip and plans to move to .25-micron technology by next year. The company introduced 0.5-micron devices last year.

"The rapid shrink from 0.5 to 0.35-microns indicates that we are on or ahead of schedule to get to a 0.25-micron size by mid-1998," said Dan McCranie, senior VP of marketing and sales. "This technology not only allows us to maintain leadership in the SRAM market, but positions us for continued success in the programmable logic, specialty memory and system-on-a-chip markets as well." The newest product is the CY7C1021, a one-megabit SRAM produced at the 0.35-micron level and priced at $5.45 in 10,000-unit lots. It is aimed at the cell phone, modem and radio markets, and is designed to work with DSPs.
