Thank you Emile for casting more light on this very necessary
discussion. It is out of balance. It is like a metal ball someone swings over our heads, and it does not come to rest ever to look at it.

Of course the followers of Jesus Christ did not persecute Jews.
Nor harm them. Nor anything else. This only happened during horrible political purges, during which madmen operated doing what they wanted.

Someone find me ONE born-again national leader in all of history who ever marched AGAINST any other living creature to do them harm. Please. Educate me.

Hitler was a closet satan worshipper. Stalan was the devil himself out of the closet. The rest of madmen in history "worshipped" if anything, pagan concepts of satan.

The Crusaders did not march against the pathetic non-christians.
LOOK AT HISTORY. You will see that militant muslim armies had slowly marched Westward toward Europe slowly lopping off anyone's head who would not denounce Christ. Why? They felt, and under the Romish Church I can understand them, that they were irradicating another Mother Goddess pagan religion with another pagan child diety. They believed there was only ONE. Allah.

I think a good look at what is and what isn't and never was will in the long run prepare us all for the next step history is taking--one I don't think any of us will like.

Most unfortunaly, I must leave these wonderful exchanges and go to work.

Emile:
While the first two periods of church history were as you describe, beginning with the third church age in 314 AD when the Emperor Constantine makes Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, we find that the world enters into the Church. The Church was corrupted at this time, and this corruption continued for many centuries. Anti-semitism rears it's head at this time. This era corresponds to the Church of Pergamos described in Revelation, and to the Parable of the Mustard Seed in Matthew where the birds of the air (evil) roosted in the branches thereof. Satan has always attempted to destroy the seed of Abraham, and he uses the Church when he can to accomplish this. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the reference that I wanted to give you. Sid Roth, a Messianic Jew who I highly respect, has studied this in depth and his contention is that this is one of the blackest stories one could ever encounter. Certainly our own government, while outwardly supporting the State of Israel, has many times sided against Israel and with the Arab countries to Israel's peril. It continues today. The recent book "The Secret War Against The Jews" is a real eye-opener, and stuck a pin in several of my heros, including George Bush, Nelson Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, and the Dulles boys (not that I claim that they are Christian, because they are not).
Well, perhaps someone else will post a good reference source. If I locate it, I will post it.
