One caveat: the year over year comparison is unfair. IPhone 5 was released earlier in the year compared to iPhone 4S. Kantar's findings say that through the end of Nov 2011, iOS share at AT&T was at 62%, but we know that when all was said and done, iPhone had 82% of AT&T's Dec 2011 smartphone sales. Similarly, Verizon's full quarter iPhone share in Dec 2011 was 55% (not 41%, as Kantar estimated through Nov of that year). Part of the problem may be systematic underestimating by Kantar, but it's certain that a full month of sales without the 4S is bringing down the 3 month average in 2011.
