I learned to space on a typewriter so it took me a good long time to give up the 2 space "rule"

Can I let you in on a secret? Typing two spaces after a period is totally, completely, utterly, and inarguably wrong.
That's funny. I mean it's funny to learn that now, at this late stage of my life.

I have a deeply ingrained habit of typing two spaces at the end of sentences. I was taught that in my high school typing class in the 60s. I'm trying to use one space, now, and it's screwing up the flow of my typing.

I had no idea I was wrong, but it's going to be difficult to change. Obviously, change I must. If one space is correct, then full speed ahead with that.

I also tend to break things up in to very small paragraphs.

I guess what I do is that I stick with the rules I like, and thumb my nose at those I don't. It's probably not too early for me to get crotchety about this particular rule, but I think I'll just quietly start doing the right thing. I can change. I really can.

(I made an hilarious joke by putting two spaces between those last two sentences. But no one will be able to see it, because as I've noticed, the SI software automatically ignores double spaces after a period. It displays everything with only one space after the period. Then, of course, SI also adds and deletes blank lines between paragraphs, seemingly at its own whim.)
