I'm not at all worried about SI doing what they like with their little bailiwick. Islamic Jihadists are murderous beasts who need extinction. SI can't do anything to me and I doubt wants to. Murderous maniacs can do. And have done in the case of Alan Beaven, unitedheroes.com who but there for the grace of God go I .... first they came for Flight 93 but I wasn't on it, but before that they came for Stan Shaw but I didn't have a job installing telephones ... en.wikipedia.org and they plan to murder as many as they can get their hands on.
It's tribal Arun. Not in your old-fashioned sense of tribe though.

It's my tribe = reasoned intelligence, versus their tribe = murderous superstitious barbarian totalitarians.

These days, people can see threats from afar, in the development phase, and act accordingly. There's a common argument that people should ignore what theoretically might be minimal risks, but humans are predictors [that's what our great big brains are for]. So we can see a trend coming from a long way away.

Of course there are greater personal threats than Islamic Jihad - for example garden variety mortality, with nobody so far getting out of life alive. Our individual personal risks are of course individually more important than Islamic Jihad [normally, if one stays in a good part of town]. But people have to live within big pictures too, so we act in unison against such overall threats. Sometimes, such as confiscating pocket knives from people on airliners, the response is absurd and doesn't achieve what it's supposed to do.

To bring up Hitler again, many Jews saw the writing on the wall and made a break for freedom in the 1930s before the Holocaust got going. Many could not escape. The writing for Islamic Jihad is not just on the wall, it's in their official guidebook to jihad. It does not make good recommendations for Jews, or infidels, or apostates, or homosexuals, or a lot more besides. If there were a few hundred in a cult like Jim Jones we could easily ignore them. But there are a billion Moslems, with jihadists by the million [only 1 in 1000 is a LOT of jihad and explains why Jihad Watch has no shortage of reporting jihadwatch.org

youtube.com Fitna - a short film about jihad.

A 'sensible' Jew in Germany in 1930 using your philosophy would have said "Don't worry about one broken window. There are millions of Jewish windows so the chance of it being yours is tiny." Pretty soon, there were a lot of broken windows, and a lot of broken other things too, not to mention millions of murdered people. Broken windows law enforcement is like broken windows politics. When we see the first Islamic Jihad window smashing, it's time to make a move.
