I think so. Phones are like computers for consumers.

Once they are powerful enough to do everything they need to do what distinguishes them?

Quality build, battery life, infrastructure and nice looking design not processing power or even screen resolution.

Weird though that Reuters would withdraw the story about Apple disavowing a cheap phone. Why would they do that? Unless they found out the story about Schiller was bullshit.

It would seem to me that the way to tell the right time for Apple to go "cheaper" is when the ratio of old model to new model sales approaches 1:1 (or insert other arbitrary level here). Will be interesting to see what happened this past quarter....
