His statement about KM is a what if regarding its application into disk drives and not a confirmation that Ampex is using it in any of their other units such as DST. It might not be a bad idea to try to incorporate into DST; at least that way Eddie might have some idea as to how the DST technology might be changing and adapt to it. What is troubling me is what Red Chip pointed out. In 1995/1996 Ampex geared up R&D for a KM/TFI mix, but industry changeover to MR accelerated and made that for current practical reasons obsolete. Ampex then in 1996/1997 gears R&D for a KM/MR mix which now appears could be rendered useless if the DD industry change to GMR is accelerated also. Shouldn't someone at Ampex, either Eddie or someone in their R&D Dept, been aware of these rapid changes?? We missed the boat last year and now it appears we may miss the boat again. Worse yet we mat be on the damn Titanic!! Sorry to be so gloomy in this joyous season. Sal PS - With a severe El Nino winter predicted, I'll take the wool scarf and matching gloves. They'll sure keep me alot warmer than the heat generated from burning the 50 shares.
