How the unique properties of life originated from inert matter is still one of the great unsolved problems of biology. Creationists, of course, claim that our failure to solve it means that God did it: as Ingersoll noted in yesterday’s quote,

Our ignorance is God; what we know is science.”

Just thought i'd relink to this great blog site with Jerry Coyne Professor of Biology @ Chicago & prolific contributer to science , who as far as i know is not, nor ever has been a pederast !

Two films you might enjoy with Paul Bettany & Jennifer Connelly " Creation" about British Naturalist Charles Darwin was quite good worth a watch
imdb.com

and

"Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World"
imdb.com

Exciting period film set in the west Indies during the Napoleonic wars depicting British naval warfare with the French privateers but has a great sideline story of Bettany playing the ship's surgeon completely caught up with Naturalist studies emergent in those times, in between the battles at sea.
