Thanks Josh....I thought that article was particularly appropriate as we are talking about kids and guns, and kids and "Shoot and Splat" Videos and movies and TV with violent and very graphic programs....

We were lucky I think. We all saw movies, sometimes with gangster archvillians (NOT as heros)...We learned that crime didn't pay...We also knew it was not something to aspire to to collect welfare...It was better to open lemonaide stands, or offer to help the neighbors do "chores" for hire...mow lawns, and trim them, or polish silver, or weed the gardens, or babysit, or wash cars, etc We all knew how to work at fairly early ages.. We certainly didn't sit in our rooms and play violent video games....Our folks watched what books we were reading....

One of the biggest differences in the times was Moms pretty much stayed home and did "Mom" chores....no one had lots of money, but the families survived and most of us grew up and became citizens that eventually became interesting and trustworthy adults.

The Moms of today, have an even harder time, IMO....Many want to stay home with their kids and help them grow up, but the cost of everything, including housing and food, that it is darn near impossible to do that for many. Of course, most of our parents didn't start out wanting all the things it took their own parents decades to earn for themselves. Big difference.
