The Hands-On Lab will take place December 9-10 during GigNet 97 in San Jose as part of the High Speed LAN Solutions EXPO, and is open to all attendees. The Cabletron and Packet Engines co-sponsored live network lab will provide exclusive hands-on experience with Gigabit Ethernet and Layer 3 switching products. Products in the Hands-On Lab will include best-of-breed Gigabit Ethernet hubs, network interface cards (NICs), and multiprotocol switches including Gigabit Ethernet and ATM -- all configured for real-world evaluation. During 60 minute sessions, lab participants will run multiple technologies in a single, enclosed environment and conduct side-by-side comparisons of the industry's latest offerings. "Our primary goal is to provide hands-on experience with industry-leading Gigabit Ethernet products so network managers and engineers can see the state of the technology and compare Gigabit Ethernet to other networking technologies side-by-side," said Frank Hayes, Director of LAN switching programs for Cabletron Systems.
