Tim, as u said,
" This is by far one of the worse tech stocks to own short or long term"

If this is true, why do you post so much here? From the stock movement over the last few months, it really isnt a good daytrading stock and I agree that it hasnt been a good long term hold either. Just wondering what u are doing with the stock? holding, shorting,(trading?).

Ah...more for the Chronicles of Tim!

re: This is by far one of the worse tech stocks to own short or long term.

What facts caused you to say that? I bought ASND recently as a long term hold, and feel it was a good buy. Their merger with Cascade should start paying off soon. Their products appear to be top quality (except for their K56 problem earlier this year). They are also in one of the fastest growing markets around. If they don't make their numbers this quarter I will be surprised (but not disappointed).

When I compare other companies/industries/growth potential to Ascend, it looks even better. Stock in companies like Chlorox, Kellogs, Coca Cola, and McDonalds look astronomically high in comparison (to me).

The fact that the so called "professional money managers" don't like it right now is another point in it's favor (to me). The incompetence of their "recommendation" timings tells me most have more ego than brains (strong buy at 80, sell at 25). The telecommunications and Internet markets are among the fastest growing industries in the world. ASND will come back into favor as the merger continues to pay off. Then these "experts" will buy again. At that time their buy high/sell low logic may have applied to CSCO as it currently does to ASND.

The class action suit seems to be more whining than based on fact. Reading their 10Q's and 10K's last spring was enough to tell me it was not a good time to buy. Just listening to the Internet Service Provider's problems should have been enough for anyone!

If these people want to blame someone for their losses, they should look in the mirror. Most won't because it's not in their nature to think they could have made such a foolish decision. Instead they'll blame someone or something else, maybe even me!

And what about Asia? I don't see problems. Instead I see an incredible market opportunity where half the world's population is needing communications capability. There is more than enough market out there for Bay, Ascend, 3COM, Cisco, and the others.

Then there are merger/acquisition possibilities that may come up...

ASND may not go back to 80 but it probably won't stay in the low 20's for long either.
