About .5% of homicide in the U.S. in the last 30 years has been mass murder. Mass murder fluctuates, but never claims over 150 victims in a year.

The solutions seemed mostly aimed at that type of violence.

Meanwhile, no matter what you do, there are 300 million guns in the U.S..

The gun control ship has sailed. I'm sure that Obama's measures, if enacted, will save some lives. But it will likely be a small share of the lives taken by guns in this country.


If you believe the gun control ship has sailed, then I can see where you think its a red herring. However, I see it differently.........I don't think the ship has sailed.......instead I see it as a policy battle much like freeing the slaves or getting women the right to vote. I expect it to take a long time to accomplish but it will get accomplished.
