If they made a big deal out of raising the debt ceiling it would divert attention from guns. Letting the Democrats go through a full blown "gun grabbing" is the best thing that's happened to the Republicans for years. If that's the best thing that's happened to the GOP in years, it shows just how pathetic the party has become. The sector of the Democratic party that is easiest to split from the party are the ones who vote D because they want big government but are cultural conservatives. The percentage of the Democratic party that has a gun in the house is the largest it's ever been, according to Gallup. They're steadily getting closer to the Republicans on gun ownership. No one is suggesting to take people's guns. And I think most Americans want a culture that is based on sanity; not gun worship.
