Hi Ken -

What caught my attention is that it was the "Teacher's Pension Plan". I wonder how many of these organizations do their own investments and/or hire an outside adviser for a fee ? I read about the college endowments too w/ loads of money that need to be invested. The positive in all of this is they are not government owned and operated and have fully funded pension plans. I guess I would be skeptical if all of these assets were controlled exclusively by a 3rd party in some type of blind trust.

Therefore our pension system (at least those that operate similar to Ontario's Teachers plan) is solid and own some very good cash flow generators. Maybe the system is not completely broke. I do have some concern for those company's with unfunded pension liabilities. Specifically, VZ and T. Also several of the City and State municipalities need to work to fix their pension programs. I believe they have made unreasonable growth assumptions.

I also got side swiped by that Halloween Massacre too but stayed with many of the companies that converted to US corporations. There are some very good natural resource assets in Canada and I try to commit a portion of my portfolio to that region. Once Canada can build pipelines to both the East and West coasts w/o having to go through the U.S., it will allow them to obtain a much better price for their Oil and NG resources.

If you discover anymore undervalued Canadian REITs and/or natural resource companies please post. I still believe there are lots of undiscovered opportunities there. Hopefully we can be there first before the Ontario Teacher's Pension plan.
