Yes. Unbreakable is a marginally desirable attribution. Not much of a head turner, though.

Personally, I love the idea of an unbreakable screen, but that might be because I have two kids under the age of five. I think that far fewer people would need to put their beautiful new iPhone in a case if they didnt have to worry about the screen breaking.

Foldable displays? Like clamshell phones with screens across the inside? It would still have to be thin when folded and that might shorten the life of the OLED screen.

I just can't imagine an application in phones that would be a runaway market leader. The devices are defined by the public's conformance to previously established pocket sizes. The phone is supposed to disappear within the clothing until it's needed.

Foldable screens are still a ways out. However, if they do manage to perfect the technology then yes, I can imagine a device that had an external screen for quick interactions but then opens to reveal a larger screen for reading/web surfing/gaming. OLED's are ridiculously thin so while it would add to the device thickness I doubt that this would be a huge hurdle.

One thing the last year has shown though is that people definitely want larger screens. I am still amazed at the success of all of the >5"+ handsets.
