The Constitution grants the federal government three powers. The Feds were charged with providing for a common defense, maintaining a unified foreign policy and maintaining a common currency. Everything else is superfluous. So, if you were in Congress you would vote to END 70% of government programs? You think you'd enjoy your ONE term? It's not realistic to cut the federal government down to 1800 levels and no politician that wants to remain a politician would even consider it. Federal government IS too wasteful and needs serious cuts, but going about it in a "slash and burn" manner isn't gonna FLY and everybody knows that. There needs to be compromise..... None of it matters. America has long ago entered the post growth period. It is securely in a post freedom period. America is in decline. The question is not how are we going to save it.The question is how long can it hang on. Where should we move to? What location on earth has great freedoms where motivated people can succeed? A customer of mine tod me about when his parents visited his wife and family. He grew up in France. His father owned a trucking company with a sizable fleet. After a week in America the father turned to his wife and told her they should have come to America. If they had worked as hard in America they would be rich now. My advice to similarly motivated people would be to find another place where hard work and dedication is rewarded and become rich where richness is not demonized for political gain.
