Agreed - the more aggressive I see people here, when they are posting behind a pseudonym, the more I dismiss them as a significant or worthwhile correspondent. Hiding behind a handle and mouthing off at the world is on a par with 5th graders hiding behind a fence and throwing snowballs at passing cars. But I understand the emotionally fulfilling role it plays for those damaged people who do it. I can't imagine what they are like in 3D and I don't want to know. The peoplemark-Ignore ratio metric is a very true tell on SI. Others on SI are just too full of themselves for my taste. If I were at a cocktail party and came across one of these, I would find an excuse to shuffle off and find a more interesting conversation (instead of pontification). So that's what I do on SI. Fortunately, we are provided with a mute button for just that purpose.
