Of course his politics mirrored yours so he was a friigging genius..

The persuasive voices currently posting probably tend to mirror the current political trends, rejection of the reactionary voices, so yeah I can see how you think they are simply cluttering up the site

...the GOP solution of course is to muzzle those who think differently, just like at their own convention

My statement about doing away with the evolution thread was purely to make a point.... Not to be taken seriously at all.

BTW: I religiously avoid reading or posting on political threads that I think are run by and frequented by those with political views that "rub me the wrong way." It's not difficult at all ....Nuff said....

My guess is that the new owners don't give a damn about the content of the posts. If a topic attracts new users, he will encourage the topic. Investment, Politics, Humor, Cars.....who cares as long as it brings new users.

My bet is that the name "Silicon Investor" will disappear from the website as it excludes most types of social media users. We'll probably see the logo become a generic "SI" and then it will change to something completely different that doesn't exclude new members like Silicon Soapbox or something.

This guy didn't buy SI to continue operating at a loss. He's got one of the best online user interfaces available, hopefully he can monetize it in a way that doesn't completely disregard the existing community.

If his death was unexpected and on 2/7/05, how prescient (your post 1196) was he to post "Time to go. Take care, all!" on 2/1/05?
